Below is a design solution for a Latch assembly to hold the
Residential Refrigerator doors closed while in transit
on our 2015 Tiffin 32SA
First I designed the two parts shown below as a 3D model to be printed in a 3D printer.
I printed them the test model in Black ABS plastic. The knob was designed with a recess to
accept a press in fit of a thumb screw. The assembly is shown on the right.
The mounting shaft was made from brass and is held in place by an existing
screw holding the frame of the Residential Refrigerator in place. No modifications
were made to the original Factory Tiffin equipment
The large screw assembly on the right holds the spreader in place
which holds both refrigerators closed. The brass mount (later painted black)
remains installed between the doors and does not interfere with there
opening and closing. (this is the black model below is a red model)
(Below) The original mounting screw that was used to mount the door securing device.
Mounting assembly using the original mounting screw.
Clamping arrangement installed to hold Refrigerator door above and Freezer door below, closed, while in
transit. The assembly is easily unscrewed and stored while the Coach is parked and the refrigerator is in use.
The final set was printed in RED.
